Mingwei Chen

Lead Chemist

Dr. Mingwei Chen is the lead chemist at BEYOND and head of the technology and quality department. His work focuses on Research and Development (R&D) while providing support to the sales and marketing teams with technical solutions.

Prior to joining BEYOND, Chen was a research chemist with 10 years of research experience in synthetic chemistry and material science. Chen received his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina where he concentrated on research and development. He continued to work as a postdoctoral research associate for the University of Georgia. Meanwhile, Chen simultaneously completed an internship in the technology transfer office at the University of Georgia, where he passed the patent bar examination and registered as a patent agent with US Patent and Trademark Office. So far, Chen has published 18 academic papers in prestigious journals including Nature Chemistry and Journal of American Chemical Society. Chen also served as an invited reviewer for several top ranking journals including Nanoscale, Organometallics, and Dalton Transactions.

When Chen has down time, he likes to play soccer or read for pleasure. He also loves bringing a blanket to Miller Outdoor Theatre and taking in a performance while enjoying nature with families.
